Light yellow colour. Very intense, slightly sweet, spicy, peat tinged nose. Solid, intense, very dry. Somewhat peppery, spicy, faintly smoky flavours with a lingering, very bright, ripe lemon finish. TASTING NOTE: - Taste: gorgeous, nigh flawless delivery; every aspect from the mouth-watering gassy barley right through to the hickory and forever billowing smoke just melts in the mouth. Finish: long and even, the smoke hits every crevice whilst the bittersweet edge is stunningly sharp. Overall balance: a malt which, since its very first day, has always been at its best when at full strength doesn’t disappoint. But for dud-oak nose, this would have been an award winner. Score: 94 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2010) |
