TASTING NOTE: NOSE: moist dates and quartered lim; gristy barley perfectly countered by roasted hazelnut and sweetened cocoa: an aromatic triumph; TASTE: thin acacia honey brushed over the emboldened malt; lightweight at first and gradually more chewy; still though, it is a fine gristiness which prevails. FINISH: a touch of bitterness as the oak clears its throat but the dexterity of the vanilla allows the sweet a clear path to the finish ... a star of a malt, altered in style slightly since its launch, offering such clever nuances ... the ultra complex nose ... takes star billing. Score: 92.5 (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible 2010) |
