AMARO ‘MONTENEGRO’ Specialità Italiana Bologna, Italy
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Montenegro S.p.A.
Medium orange amber colour. Lovely, spicy, bitter-sweet orange peel. Perfectly balanced, medium bodied, fine, very bright but creamy, candied tangerine flavours. Delicious. A delicious digestif with just the right amount of bitter herbal notes. Note that this liqueur has appeared twice before in Vintages, both times with a higher level of alcohol - 25%. This is the highest score it has attained. CSPC 956623

A Best Buy
Tasting note: This version of Italian bitters is a deep burnished amber, but has a lovely nose of bitter-sweet orange peel, cloves and cinnamon. There is some sweetness and delicacy in body and it is only slightly medicinal. The finish is on the short side with hints of bitter lemon and orange. [Enjoy as a digestif after a hearty meal]. Score – 89. (Patricia Noonan, Wine Access First In Line E-Mail, Dec. 2001) Price $ 26.95
