‘ANTIQUE’ COGNAC Très Rare Fine Champagne Cognac
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Th. Hine
Fairly deep golden amber colour. Dry, slightly peppery, dried ripe apple and tangerine on the nose with some fallen leaf autumnal notes. Very slightly peppery, firm, very dry, dusty, dried apple flavours with fresh plum, fig and prune notes on the lingering caramel-tinged finish. I didn’t find the single bottle sampled quite as rounded or spicy as the one last reviewed for the November 3, 2001 release. CSPC 145466

Hine’s ‘Antique’ is a blend of 20- and 25-year -old Cognacs. Tasting note: Very elegant, genteel, cognac with almost all the fire extinguished. The nose is an explosion of fine wood, tea, orange-apricot, mead and caramel. The palate is like satin, with a touch of ‘afterburn’ and outstanding length. You could coddle a two ounce portion for an hour beside the fire. Very special. Score – 94. (David Lawrason, Wine Access First In Line E-Mail, Nov. 2001) Price $ 129.95
