18 YEARS OLD HIGHLAND SINGLE MALT Balmenach Distillery, Unchill-filtered
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DEERSTALKER
Last appeared in Vintages (*** 92 points) on August 20, 2011 at $79.95 and was Recommended Best Buy. Here is my note: Light yellow colour. Classy, slightly honeyed, ripe, plum-caramel nose. Dry, harmonious, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, ripe, plum-lemon flavours with lots of caramel notes on the lingering finish. CSPC 341396

TASTING NOTE: The 18-year-old expression of Deerstalker possesses an intriguing and inviting nose, with obvious herbal notes, plus eucalyptus, heather and hints of well mannered Sherry. Rich and warming on the palate, this is a big-bodied beast, with well harmonized malt and Sherry flavours prevailing. A suggestion of peat smoke lingers in the background, and the finish is long and sophisticated. This is a first class Speyside dram. Score: 3.5 Stars (out of 5) (Gavin D. Smith & Tom Cannavan, whisky-pages.com, Undated) Price $ 84.95
