12 YEARS OLD DOMINICAN RUM Santiago de los Caballeros |

KIRK AND SWEENEY |
Bright medium golden yellow colour. Sweet, honeyed, ripe apricot nose with some caramel and lots of vanilla notes. Slightly sweetish, medium bodied, intense, smooth, spicy, vanilla stick flavours with a lingering, caramel finish. This crowd pleaser comes in an attractive package but is not really my style - a bit sweetish for my taste. |

This Rum was included on the Wine Enthusiast Top 50 Spirits of 2013. TASTING NOTE: Named for a wooden schooner famed for smuggling rum during Prohibition, this amber rum has a relatively light feel for a spirit aged a full 12 years. Flavors and aromas run to hazelnut, cookie dough, brown sugar and vanilla, pepped up with dark chocolate and espresso. Presented in a rotund "onion" bottle modeled after an 18thcentury design. Score - 95 (Kara Newman, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 2013) |
