SKETCHES OF NIAGARA RIESLING 2012 VQA Niagara Peninsula |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TAWSE |
Bright very pale straw colour. Intense, youthful, attractive, ripe apple puree nose with some hints of honey. Just off-dry (22 g/L residual sugar), medium-light bodied, slightly honeyed, spicy, ripe, fairly intense, lemon-melon-apple flavours with a tangy, lingering, unoaked, mineral-tinged finish. Screwcap closure. Still youthful and perhaps the best yet. A repeat of the recommended 2012 r(***) Released on September 28, 2013 at $17.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This carries on the medal winning tradition of Tawse's basic riesling. It's simple compared to the taut mineral driven single vineyard wines that cost more, but the acid-sugar balance is perfect and the winemaking is pristine. And the length overshoots the price. What more do you want from a summer riesling - peach, lemon, white flowers - done. Score - 91 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, July 2, 2013) |
