V.E.P. GREEN LIQUEUR In Wooden Box, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHARTREUSE |
Bright light clear lime-green colour. Intense, spicy and sweet with a cornucopia of aromas including basil, cloves, tangerine rind and licorice on the nose. Pungent, viscous, sweet, full bodied, very spicy, clove-driven flavours with a slightly peppery, lingering finish. Perhaps more than a bit of an acquired taste. Has 54% alcohol. Bottled in 2013. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
The region's namesake, and one of the world's finest liqueurs, Chartreuse has been produced by Carthusian monks since 1764. Its distinctive colour is the natural bi-product of the maceration process of over 130 plants and herbs. Only three monks know the secret recipe, and their order is a silent one. TASTING NOTE: Extra-aged Green Chartreuse. Aromas are keenly botanical and vegetal/woodsy. The palate shows peppermint, citrus peel, and sage along with the herbs and botanicals. Concludes with finesse and power. Score - 96-100 (F. Paul Pacult, Wine Enthusiast, March 2007) |
