AÑEJO TEQUILA Jalisco, Mexico |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

Light golden yellow colour. Intense, spicy, slightly hayish, blue agave nose with some caramel and warm sweetish steamed rice (as in sake) notes. Very smooth, slightly sweet, medium bodied, fairly spicy, ripe plum-caramel flavours with a fairly crisp finish. I like the nose but for my taste the taste has little to do with the Tequila I know and love. That’s not to say it isn’t tasty - it is but at $107.95 it isn’t a detour for me! |

Gold Medal winner at the 2007 Mundus Vini International Spirit Awards. TASTING NOTE: The showpiece bottle will catch your eye, but one whiff of the intense and evocative aromas will show you that this is no one-trick pony. Layered notes of sea spray, dried citrus peel, cucumber, celery salt, habanero and white pepper make for a delightfully complex nose. In the mouth it's spicy with subtle smoke and wood notes. With a few drops of distilled water, even more marine character is released, enhancing the smooth texture. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2014) |
