IRISH SPIRIT DRINK West Cork, Ireland
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MCFADDEN
Light amber-gold colour. Spicy, wet tea-bag nose with some slightly salty, caramel notes with a hint of banana. Spicy, honeyed, medium bodied, faintly peppery, caramel-driven, sweetish stewed plum flavours. From West Cork Distillers, this very spicy and somewhat sweetish recipe of grain whiskey (30%) and malt (70%) plus “caramel colourant” is not something that I would choose to drink or recommend. Infinitely better is Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey (LCBO #71746) currently at only $30.45. CSPC 364653

TASTING NOTE: Lovely amber/old gold color. Vibrant aromas include toasted grains, unsalted snack crackers and yeasty bread dough. On palate, there’s a distinctive herbal quality that doesn’t get in the way of the primary grain and oak flavors. Concludes semisweet and toasty. Excellent, Highly Recommended.
