BAS ARMAGNAC 1978 Bottled in 2014, AC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DELORD
Bright light golden amber colour. Spicy, ripe plum, honeyed, caramel, buttery, walnut bread nose. Fairly intense, medium bodied, slightly spicy, ripe plum-caramel flavours with a lingering, bright, gently cedary finish. A very fine Bas Armagnac that was aged for 36 years in oak. Perhaps a tad pricey, unless you happen to be born in 1978. Dollar for dollar, I preferred De Montal XO Bas Armagnac (***) which appeared (and is still available) in Vintages on January 18, 2014 (#354027) at only $88.95
