A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
Made in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Old Rip Van Winkle is a neighbour to the legendary whiskey producer, Wild Turkey. Wild Turkey’s ‘Rare Breed’ is available this month in our May 24th release (310185, page 32). For a great steak sauce recipe using either of these American whiskies go to our website www.vintages.com. Tasting note: Brilliant amber-orange. Luscious, complex toffee and Christmas spice nose. A round, supple entry leads to a dry, expansive, medium body. Caramel, nuts, and brown spices are braced by a modest presence of alcohol. Finishes with a lengthy enveloping finish. An outrageously smooth and decadent bourbon. Score – 98. (www.tastings.com, Mar. 8, 2002) |
