Prince Hubert de Polignac is the prestige brand of Unicoop. Founded in 1931, the cooperative is now made up of some 3700 vintners who produce wines to be distilled on roughly 5500 hectares of vineyards in all six crus. Tasting note: An assemblage from all the cognac sous-appellations, aged from four and a half to twenty years. Similar to [their] VS, but a more harmonious cognac, with a cheerful earthbound aroma of undergrowth, raisins, apples. A complex brandy that slides down the throat like honey before elegant bittersweet, spicy notes make their appearance. (Axel and Bibiana Behrendt, Cognac, 1995) |
