MASTIHA LIQUEUR Greece
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SKINOS
Clear and colourless. Sweet, spicy nose with some odd dill pickle notes. Better on the palate. Extremely sweet, medium bodied, very viscous, faintly cherry-tinged, candied powdered icing sugar flavours. This is seasoned with the sap of the Mastiha tree, a small evergreen native to the Mediterranean region. It has its fans but for me is an acquired taste. CSPC 91033

TASTING NOTE: The Mastiha tree that provides the sap from which this exquisitely balanced liqueur is distilled grows only on the island of Chios – making this a truly unique drink. It is smooth with notes of herbal lemon grass surrounding a sweet core. Delicious in cocktails, this will also work chilled as an aperitif or digestif. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2014) Price $ 28.95
