Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHARTREUSE |
Pale day-glo light green colour. Intense, sweet, very spicy, honeyed, complex, gently herbal, warm licorice nose. Sweet, medium bodied, gently viscous, very bright, spicy, honeyed, intense, faintly minty, herbal, licorice flavours with a long, lingering, harmonious, lifted finish. Chartreuse has been produced by Carthusian monks since 1764 and this VEP has 54% alcohol and is a naturally green liqueur made from 130 herbs and plants macerated in alcohol and steeped for about 8 hours. VEP stands for Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé, meaning "exceptionally prolonged ageing" in oak casks. Has 54% alcohol and the back label says "Mise en Bouteille en 2014” with a code V.03185. The lot number L93006 appears on the glass bottle. A little goes a very long way. Last appeared in Vintages (not presented) on February 14, 2014 at $86.95. |
