ROSÉ SPARKLING Méthode Traditionnelle, California |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CHANDON |
Bright pale salmon pink colour. Pleasant, somewhat honeyed, spicy, melon-plum-apple nose. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, slightly honeyed, effervescent, ripe plum-strawberry-apple flavours with a lingering, crisp finish. Ready-to-drink. A bit better than when it last appeared in Vintages (**/**+) on December 7, 2013 at $32.95 - cspc 56341. Not inexpensive - the current average price in the US is only $23 CND. |

A Vintage Assessments Explorer's Selection! |
This small-production pink Californian sparkler, made in the traditional method of Champagne, has a truly exciting history. Domaine Chandon began 42 years ago when Moet & Chandon (makers of Dom Perignon) recognized and invested in California's potential for producing superior sparkling wine. Comprising Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, this spends a year on the lees gaining mellow complexity. The producer suggests pairing it with seafood, shellfish, duck and lamb. |
