BRUT FRANCIACORTA 2009 DOCG, Lombardy, Italy |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MONZIO COMPAGNONI |
Bright medium straw colour. Slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, shy, ripe apple-lemon-melon nose with some distracting ascorbic acid notes. Fairly dry, medium to medium-light bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, rather ripe melon-apple-lemon flavours with a very crisp, slightly mineral-tinged, fairly effervescent finish. This blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir has 13% alcohol although according to their website it has only 12% alcohol. Their website also sys that it has only 10 g/L residual sugar, although it tastes a bit sweeter than this. The lot number 14L22 appears on the back label and suggests that it was only disgorged last year.

TASTING NOTE: This sparkling wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero has a floral fragrance of Spanish broom and acacia. The palate shows white peach, citrus and toasted almond flavors. It has creamy texture supported by crisp acidity. Score - 90 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2013) |
