HORS D'ÂGE AC Armagnac, France |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ARMAGNAC DE MONTAL |
Medium golden orange amber colour. Intense, fairly spicy, slightly honeyed, ripe plum puree nose with lots of vanilla notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, ripe, plum-caramel flavours with a lingering, bright, faintly peppery finish. Similar to when it last appeared in Vintages (***) on November 10, 2012 at $79.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Armagnac is too often overshadowed by cognac, and it's well worth delving into (again, if necessary). This is a fine example, with deep complexity in the flavours and a smooth, verging-on-viscous texture that doesn't detract a whit from its freshness and soft bite. The aftertaste is warm, long and layered. It's a wintery pleasure not to be missed. Score - 5 Stars (out of 5) (Rod Phillips, winealign.com, Nov. 8, 2012) |
