CẺBANACH ISLAY SINGLE MALT Unchillfiltered
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BUNNAHABHAIN
Very pale straw colour. Attractive, very slightly spicy, honeyed, faintly smoky, warm plum-caramel nose with some faint floral notes. Dry, medium bodied albeit well structured, harmonious, very slightly spicy, floral, honeysuckle flavours with some lemony-creme brulee notes on the lingering finish. With 46.3% alcohol, it is surprising mellow. CSPC 410944

'Cẹbanach' is pronounced 'kyaw-bin-och' and translates to 'smoky mist,' a reference to life on the island in the 1800s when the air tasted of a (perhaps enviable today) mix of sea air and smoke from the peat fires that warmed people's homes. This rich and complex offering from Bunnahabhain looks to capture this experience within the bottle as well as on the label. Expect evocative notes of seaweed and peat smoke to be artfully interwoven with vanilla, pepper spice and oranges. Price $ 99.95
