Domaine des Aspes’ Viognier has been very popular with Vintages customers and we are pleased to present this unique opportunity to try their Marc. Historically, Marc, like Grappa in Italy, was a product created by the workers for the workers with what would have gone to waste — the skins and pips of the Viognier still wines (in this case, the 1998 vintage). Today, Marc, like Grappa, is much more sophisticated and can proudly take its place at the table with fine cognacs and single malt whiskies. Tasting note: Crystal clear with an impressively aromatic nose of flowers, peach and pear. Dry with a hint of sweetness. Again, quite ‘aromatic’ on the palate with a persistent, varietally-true finish. (David Churchill, Vintages, Feb. 2000) |
