CATHEDRAL CELLAR BRUT SPARKLING 2010 WO Western Cape |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
KWV |
Bright light yellow colour. Somewhat nutty, sulphury, toasty, spicy, ripe lemon nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, tangy, ripe lemon flavours with a very slightly toasty, lingering, very crisp, effervescent finish. A repeat of the recommended best buy 2010 (**+) released on March 21, 2015 at $16.95. This one, however, is very different - a recent bottling (with lot number L15023 on the back label) with only 12% alcohol vs. 12.5% alcohol for the previous preferred shipment with with lot number L13016 on the back label. |

Received a Top Value Wine award at the 2014 World Wine Awards of Canada. TASTING NOTE: Great value bubbly. The nose shows lots of autolysis with creamy vanilla custard and apple and peach aroma. The palate is quite rich and soft yet still with crisp acidity and flavours of apple, lemon, lemon zest, caramel and nut with a long finish. Score - 90 (Rhys Pender, MW, winealign.com, Sept. 20, 2014) |
