SAUVAGE BRUT ROSÉ CHAMPAGNE AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
PIPER HEIDSIECK |
Faintly ambering light orange colour. Gently spicy, baked apple-lemon nose. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, plummy, ripe apple-lemon flavours with a long, effervescent finish. This 12% alcohol blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 15% Chardonnay is simply not up to snuff. The lot number on this shipment is L15024 on the capsule. You can safely ignore the tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue as it is based on a totally different lot (L130629 3872). |

TASTING NOTE: (55% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier and 15% Chardonnay; no dosage; L130629 3872): Dark, lurid pink--almost red, actually. Ripe red berries, cherry pit and tangerine on the deeply scented nose and in the mouth. In a plush, open-knit style, but with dusty mineral and bitter quinine notes adding back-end cut and grip. Rich yet dry and taut, finishing with very good thrust and echoing minerality. Score - 91 (Josh Raynolds, vinousmedia.com, Jan. 2015) |
