QUINTESSENTIA AMARO Italy |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
NONINO |
Golden orange amber colour. Intense, very spicy, very sweet, Seville orange marmalade nose with herbal bitter quince notes. Sweet, medium-full bodied, spicy, intense, bitter quince and Seville orange marmalade flavours with a lingering, caramel-cream finish with some candied grapefruit peel notes. This is one heck of a lot of Amaro and is the equivalent of $48.71 per 750 ml vs. the $64 CND current average price in the US. |

TASTING NOTE: The Nonino family is mostly known for its acclaimed grappas, but they also produce this silky, liqueur-like amaro. It's flavored with herbs from the mountains of Friuli. (Ray Isle, foodandwine.com, Dec. 2011) |
