PARADIS RARE COGNAC Cognac
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer HENNESSY
Not presented at the press/consultants preview in the LCBO lab. It’s available Sask Liquor (ID:2630) for $994.71, as well as at BC Liquor Stores (#208298) for $999.00. Originally called “Extra Rare” - the following note is from my December 31, 2005 feature in the National Post (now on our website). Scored: 95/100 and was previously priced at $419.95. The nose is quite lovely, gently earthy, slightly spicy, very faintly minty, warm plum purée with some caramel notes. Refined, solid, dry, harmonious, very slightly cedary, ripe plum and honeyed hazelnut flavours. Great length. Last appeared in the Vintages Catalogue as an Essential on December 6, 2008 at $445.95. TASTING NOTE: It's made from several hundred eaux-de-vie aged 25 to 130 years and on the decadence scale is like crème brûlée made with foie gras. Words kind of fail, but I'll try: lavishly creamy, with a floral-citrus fragrance and slowly unfolding layers of caramelized sugar, chocolate, orange, banana and spice cake. Or maybe a rhyme is best: First pass the Courvoisier 21, then pass the Paradis and I'm done. Score - 96 (Beppi Crosariol, theglobeandmail.com, Nov. 29, 2011) Price $ 1,540.00
Bottle Size 750 mL
