TASTING NOTE: Altaland is a new regional series by Catena to begin to highlight the many wine-growing areas of Argentina. Tinta Historica is a Mendoza blend based on malbec (which used to be called Francesca, the French grape) co-fermented with about 15% petit verdot. The nose is quite floral thanks to the PV, with violets, blueberry and a hint of chocolate. It's mid-weight, quite firm and well structured. Just a bit starchy, so I would age it a couple of years. Also quite juicy. Good to very good length. Tasted June 2016. Score - 89 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, June 9, 2016) |
