CUVÉE DES MOFS YELLOW CHARTREUSE AC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

CHARTREUSE DIFFUSION |
Bright day-glo lime-tinged yellow colour. Very sweet, intensely honeyed, black licorice nose with some floral notes. Very sweet, medium-full bodied, very viscous, dense, spicy, honeyed, chamomile-licorice flavours with a lingering finish. This new listing has 45% alcohol and 273 g/L residual sugar. There is also a Yellow Chartreuse at Vintages with only 40% alcohol (#69252 at $32.95 for 357 ml). Personally, I prefer the traditional drier Green Chartreuse which has 55% alcohol (#69252 at $32.95 for 375 ml). |

TASTING NOTE: Chartreuse has been made by Carthusian monks in the French Alps near Grenoble for centuries. It's an entirely natural product made from brandy and a secret blend of 130 different herbs, plants and flowers. Compared to the more familiar green Chartreuse, the yellow has a sweet character and contains less alcohol. This one has impressive fruit, floral and herbal tones perfectly framed with the intensity, complexity and aromatic power one would expect from this legendary liqueur. (VINTAGES panel, May 2016) |
