CHÂTEAU DES CHARMES |
| Not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. Tasted again recently at Cuvee 2017 - here is my note: Medium-deep ruby red colour. Intense, slightly spicy, vibrant, fresh ripe fraises des bois (baby French wild strawberries) on the nose with a faint hint of tangy cassis. Sweet, medium bodied, perfectly balanced, faintly honeyed, intense, fresh wild strawberry and gentle nuances of cassis with a lingering, lifted, vibrant, fresh baby strawberry finish. Better and more harmonious today than when initially tasted a year ago. TONY ASPLER / 94.5-points / BUY - Fresh strawberry jam nose with a light cedary-floral note (having lost the herbal note I detected when tasted last year): well-balanced, sweet but not too sweet, honeyed strawberry, flavour, good mouth-feel with enough acidity to sustain well on the palate. Simply the best red Icewine I've tasted in Ontario. Has 9.5% alcohol and 239 g/L residual sugar. |
