Clear colour. Odd, sweet, very peppery, Tequila-ish, sweet agave, licorice nose. Peppery, dry, slightly bitter and yet sweet anise flavours. The finish on the single bottle sampled was not attractive. CSPC 538157

Yeni Raki is known as the Turkish national drink (affectionately called ‘Lion’s Milk’ there). Somewhat similar to Arak, it is a distilled alcoholic beverage strongly aromatized with anise-seed. It may be enjoyed in a cocktail, but more commonly it is served with meze (Turkish hors d’œuvres and appetizers) such as Russian salad, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers dipped in garlic sauce, cold-cuts, fried vegetables, cold yogurt soup, shrimp, mussels in a vinaigrette.
