QUIMAY |
Intense deep purple colour. Very spicy, juicy, black cherry-tropical fruit cocktail nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, very spicy, somewhat tinny, tropical fruit cocktail flavours with a surprisingly fresh finish. Ready-to-drink. This commercial, crowd-pleasing Merlot has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L163190/QYMB on the back label. TONY ASPLER / 87-points - Spicy, cedary, vanilla oak with a floral note; medium-bodied, dry, promises more on the nose than the palate delivers: dry, red plum flavour with lively acidity. TASTING NOTE: The extremely floral and aromatic, cool-climate 2013 Quimay Malbec is sourced from a vineyard planted in the early 1990s in Neuquén, in Patagonia, in Southern Argentina where the chalk-rich soils produce tasty, savory and concentrated Malbecs. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with very fine tannins showing austerity, good balance and concentration. This is a serious, harmonious Malbec. Score - 90 (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, Aug. 27, 2015) |
