TASTING NOTE: Davoch croft lies east of the Livet Valley and is along the route whisky smugglers would have trod in days gone by. This marvelously evocative single cask dram opens with notions of butterscotch, sponge toffee, candied lemon peel and apricot jam; a few drops of water unleashes lemon grass and hayfield. It's bottled at a declared cask strength of 61.6%, so add water to fully appreciate its elegance, polish and decadent flavours of lemon squares and peach cobbler. A contemplative wonder to sip and savour. (Vintages panel, Jan. 2018) |
