Very bright light orange ambering colour. Slightly spicy, bright, plummy, gentle caramel nose with some faint smoky notes. . Very dry, medium bodied, well structured, very faintly peppery, bright, fairly spicy, very gently sweetish, ripe plum-caramel flavours with a lingering, very crisp, cedar-tinged finish. This batch was aged in oak for eight years before being finished in Port casks. It last appeared in Vintages (***) with 90-points on May 14, 2016 at $89.95 and was an Explorer Selection. Before that on August 2, 2014 (***) with 91-points at $76.96 and was Recommended Best Buy. CSPC 328815

The only remaining distillery on Arran Island, Arran ferments their barley in washbacks (large wooden vessels) made from Oregon pine and distills using tall, swan-necked copper stills. This example was aged in oak for eight years before being finished in Port casks. The resulting dram will have plenty of the expressive sweet fruit that distinguishes Arran single malts, along with vanilla, spice, honey, nuts and citrus. Price $ 84.95
