BAGAçEIRA AGUARDENTE DOC Bairrada, Portugal
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer Caves Aliança
Clear colour. Fairly intense, slightly sweetish, honey and maraschino cherry nose. Very dry, youthful, slightly peppery, dried pear flavours with a lingering finish. Last appeared in Vintages (**) on October 4, 2003 at $22.95. This bottle didn’t seem to have the very slightly sweet, fresh cut grass notes found in the previous one sampled. CSPC 955757

Some of the best and freshest-tasting is made in the Bairrada, where it is the custom to distil the bagaço while still moist from the wine presses … A good tip is to serve [it] in a brandy glass with a lump of ice, when I have found them delicious as a digestif after dinner.
