BAGAçEIRA AGUARDENTE DOC Bairrada, Portugal |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
Caves Aliança |
Clear colour. Fairly intense, slightly sweetish, honey and maraschino cherry nose. Very dry, youthful, slightly peppery, dried pear flavours with a lingering finish. Last appeared in Vintages (**) on October 4, 2003 at $22.95. This bottle didn’t seem to have the very slightly sweet, fresh cut grass notes found in the previous one sampled. |

Some of the best and freshest-tasting is made in the Bairrada, where it is the custom to distil the bagaço while still moist from the wine presses … A good tip is to serve [it] in a brandy glass with a lump of ice, when I have found them delicious as a digestif after dinner.
