TASTING NOTE: Nose: Ardbeg at its driest and most sooty: a real acidic bite to the huge phenol...; Taste: sublimely textured with an immediate roll call of sugars, which had been absent on the nose. Being called \"Oa\", a dramatic part of Islay with the sheerest of cliffs falling vertically into the sea, you might expect a bit of a cliff hanger here. But instead the transformation from the delicate, molassed sugars into a softer vanilla is carried out on in the least demanding way and even the smoke makes no attempt to recreate the fog I have been caught in there myself. It is effortless and easy, like gear changes on an automatic car. It is also beautifully delicious...; Finish: more softly texture caramel, but with punchier spices; Balance: I'd never say \"whoa\" if someone poured me an Oa...
