ESTATE RIESLING 2016 VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer HIDDEN BENCH
This repeat was not presented at the press and/or consultants preview in the LCBO lab. Here is my previous review: Very bright pale straw colour. Intense, schisty, fresh apple-lemon nose with lots of mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, tangy, mineral-tinged, ripe apple-lemon flavours with a very crisp, high acid, unoaked, lingering finish. Has 11% alcohol and 14 g/L residual sugar. The recommended 2016 (***) was released on April 28, 2018 at $23.95. CSPC 183491

TASTING NOTE: Tightly wound, pure and driving, with terrific acids sharp and tart, and loads of mid-palate density. Length is very good to excellent. Dusty-talcy texture with real grip. A superb estate riesling here from Hidden Bench, best after 2019. Tasted April 2018. Score - 91 (John Szabo, MS, winealign.com, April 19, 2018) Price $ 24.95
