Medium orange amber. Very spicy, honeyed, warm plummy-prune nose with some caramel notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly soft, attractive, warm plum purée flavours with a lingering, vanilla-caramel finish. Unlike traditional single malt Scotch whisky, this corn-and-malt-based blend has some Bourbony, faintly sweet, vanilla and brown sugar notes. It has 40.5% alcohol with lot number 38041 on the back label.

| Crafted in the highest-elevation distillery in Japan, the Iwai is a corn-and-malt-based blend and takes its stylistic lead from Bourbon; it is, after all, aged in Bourbon barrels. Look for pear notes with some red fruit accents and vanilla, all presented with the smoothness and clarity that is increasingly typifying Japanese whisky. |
