VIDAL ICEWINE 2016 VQA Niagara Peninsula
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LUNDY MANOR
Not presented at the press preview in the LCBO lab. Here is my tasting note based on a sample received from the producer. Bright medium gold colour. Attractive, spicy, honeyed, wildflower nose with some Seville orange marmalade notes and a touch of buttery caramel. Sweet, medium bodied, harmonious, elegant, spicy, honeyed, Seville orange marmalade flavours with a lingering, bright, gently buttery, citrusy, warm caramel finish. It has 12.4% alcohol and 199 g/L residual sugar. Keep in mind that $45.95 per 375 ml works out to only $24.50 per 200 ml bottle. CSPC 646554

TASTING NOTE: This wine was awarded 90 points by Michelle Bouffard of winealign.com and earned a Gold Medalat the 2018 National Wine Awards of Canada. It was aged in French acacia barrels, which adds a lovely floral honeyed note to the citrus, apple and tropical tones. This floral, lush, balanced, crisp Icewine with its fresh, lively acidity is a fine example of this classic Ontario style. Rich enough to enjoy on its own, it will also be great with a mango-banana sorbet. (Vintages panel, Dec. 2018) Price $ 45.95
