The firm is reputed to be the oldest in Armagnac and is still owned by the Castarède family. They brought Armagnac to the French court during the reign of Louis XV. Castarède’s reputation rests primarily on their vintage Armagnacs, sourced exclusively from Bas Armagnac (they buy brandies; they do not distill). The brandies are aged until they naturally reach bottling strength (40%); after that they are stored in large glass ‘bonbonnes’. |
