PURO TORONTEL PISCO
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer LA CARAVED
The LCBO refused to allow the accredited wine reviewers to taste this March 16 release. A REPEAT - here is my previous note that last appeared in Vintages (***) with 93-points on May 12, 2018 at $44.95 and was Recommended Best Buy. Clear and colourless. Slightly spicy, Grappa-tinged nose with some ripe apple purée notes. Dry - seems a tad drier than the Quebranta - medium bodied, attractive, slightly spicy, faintly honeyed, ripe apple purée flavours with a lingering, harmonious finish. It is rare to get two single grape premium Pico Puro in a single Vintages release. Made from the Torontel grape this Pisco has has 41% alcohol. Quite unique and impressive, this Double Gold Medal Torontel Pisco also won Best in Show for the Unaged White Spirit & Best Pisco category in the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. TASTING NOTE: A seductive bouquet of linden, hawthorn acacia and cherry blossom is paired with dragon fruit, white cherry and grapes. The palate is just as perfumy and pretty as the nose with some additional citrus pith notes. Great for summer cocktails. Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation. Score - 95 (Ultimate Spirits Challenge, 2018) Price $ 44.95
