Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHARTREUSE
This is one of 64 items (128 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies and has not appeared in Vintages before. Assessed from a sample provided by the listing agent. Here is my tasting note: Very bright light lime green colour. Intense, very spicy, bittersweet nose with some slightly honeyed, very herbal, citrusy-vanilla-licorice-tinged notes. Very intense, sweet, medium-full bodied, rich, well structured, extremely bright, very spicy, pungent, sweet, tangerine-citrus flavours with a lingering, vibrant, breath-cleansing, lingering, herbal finish. First created in 1984 to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Grande Chartreuse Monastery by Saint Bruno in 1084, this liqueur has 47% alcohol and 250 g/L residual sugar with lot number 934274 on the capsule. According to the back label, this batch was made in 2018 (bottle No 09686). CSPC 654871

A Best Buy
Wrapped in intrigue and mystery, the recipe for Chartreuse, which is crafted in both yellow and green, is known only to three monks, and they, of course, have taken vows of silence. Comprising some 130 or so herbs and botanicals, Chartreuse is one of the rare experiences in life that manages to actually live up to the hype and mythos surrounding it. This special example was created in 1984 to commemorate the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Grande Chartreuse Monastery in 1084, and is Green but with the sweetness of a Yellow Chartreuse The colour is entirely natural. Chartreuse is best enjoyed well chilled or on the rocks. The bottle is a replica of an 18th-century design. Price $ 81.95
