CUVÉE D'ANDRÉE ROSÉ 2018 VQA Niagara-on-the-Lake |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |

CHÂTEAU DES CHARMES |
This is one of 75 items (134 releases) not presented to taste under new LCBO policies. Assessed from a sample provided by the producer. Here is my note: Very bright light reddish rose colour. Slightly spicy, bright, very fresh, still faintly leesy, ripe red apple-plum-cherry nose. Dry, medium-light bodied, youthful, very fresh, slightly spicy, plum-cherry-red-apple flavours with a crisp, very faintly honeyed, mineral-tinged, tangy finish. I think that this will still improve in bottle . Has 12.5% alcohol and 6,1 g/L residual sugar along with 6.1 g/L total acidity meaning that it should keep. Screwcap closure. Better than the 2016 (**/**+) that was released on March 17, 2018 at $15.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a big and robust (for rosé) wine. Lots of strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb tones with a lifted floral note that really soars out of the gate. There's a hint of white pepper that nudges its way in towards the end to remind you that this wine is not done with you yet. So pleasant and appealing. The fruit is so ripe that, though dry, the wine offers a hint of sweetness. Gorgeous. This will be ideal for herbed pork tenderloin, or with sandwiches featuring freshly carved roast beef.
