PELEE ISLAND MOUSSEUX DE POMME SPARKLING APPLE WINE 2016 Ontario Fruit Wine
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PELEE ISLAND
OK and now for something completely different. I was caught off-guard by this gently off-dry, fizzy, apple wine made from the local Braeburn variety. It is the kind of wine that was made in the past by our ancestors and served with pride at festive Fall get-togethers. This modern take was surprisingly delicious, especially at only $13.95 with the current limited time offer. It has a pale straw and an attractive, fresh apple purée nose. Just off dry, well balanced and medium-light bodied, the crisp, fresh, ripe apple flavours are lifted by some gentle effervescence leaving a refreshing finish. Less than 500 cases remain, it has 10% alcohol and 1.8 g/L residual sugar. TONY ASPLER / 89-points / BEST BUY - Delicate apple and pear nose; light-bodied with a light petillance; it has bright, clean, ripe apple flavours with lemony acidity; fresh and lively on the palate with a fine mouthfeel. Easy drinking and refreshing - perfect for Thanksgiving. CSPC 556324

A Best Buy
Take 100% Ontario apples, press and ferment, then add a little sparkle and you have this flavourful and refreshing bubbly. Fragrant with crushed red apple and delicate floral aromas this is lively on the palate with layers of apple and tea-like flavour balanced by light sweetness and persistent bubbles.
