‘ABSENTE’ With Absinthe Spoon and Gift Box France |

Day glo light green colour. Sweet, very spicy, honeyed, licorice-driven nose. Bright, gently sweet, tangy, honeyed, peppery (55% alcohol), herbal, Chartreuse-ish flavours with a lingering finish. My attempts to use the “spoon” - pouring water over a cube of sugar were not totally successful as the sugar didn’t totally dissolve and resulting drink wasn’t to my taste. |

Absente is a combination of exotic botanicals that recalls the glamour of 19th century Paris. Much of the romance of this libation was in the ritual of its preparation. When Absinthe, as it was originally called, was mixed with sugar (to cut the product’s bitterness) and water, the drink took on a glowing green colour, and was dubbed the ‘Green Fairy’. |
