‘EL DORADO’ SPECIAL RESERVE 15-Year-Old 15-Year-Old Rum with Gift Box, Guyana
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer EL DORADO
Light amber colour. Sweet, hot, buttery, caramel nose with very spicy, peppery, tea and cedar notes. Dry, peppery and tangy with some coconut notes. Once again, the Vintages Catalogue appears to use an outdated quotation, which based on an earlier and much better version of this Rum. My tasting note of June 1998 reveals that the superior version had 43% alcohol. CSPC 705418

Tasting note: Attractive, rich copper-amber hue. A complex nose of confectioner’s sugar, banana, cedar, and iodine. A silky entry leads to a moderately full-bodied palate of vibrant-yet-refined dry caramel and grilled tropical fruit flavors braced by warm alcohol and firm, smooth oak spice. Somewhat Scotch-like, with subtle peaty overtones. Beautifully proportioned and designed for long contemplative sipping. Score – 96. (www.tastings.com, July 2, 2001) Price $ 59.60
