| POLIGONOS MALBEC 2016 Tupungato Alto, Mendoza |
| Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ZUCCARDI |
| Very deep, intense, violet-purple colour. Complex, faintly spicy, woodsy, somewhat dusty, intense, plum nose. Very dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, fairly spicy, intense, somewhat terse, plum flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, gently cedary finish. Tasted once. This 1005 Malbec has 14% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19-268-313 on the back label. Has not appeared in Vintages before. |

| TASTING NOTE: There is a big jump in quality in the 2016 Polígonos Gualtallary compared with the 2015, as they realized that the grapes there ripen earlier than in Altamira, even though the vineyards are much higher (Gualtallary is at 1,350 meters in altitude compared to Altamira at 1,100), which does not follow any (known) logic. They also separated the harvest by soil, which has increased the levels of precision and freshness. This is the most mineral and austere of the three Malbec Polígonos from 2016. Amazing value too! Drink date: 2018-2023. Score - 94 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, June 29, 2018) |
