ABRAS |
A tasty well-priced Torrontes that is ready-to-drink. Extremely pale straw colour. Intense, very spicy, honeyed, Muscaty-lychee nose. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, extremely spicy, fresh, bright, ripe, apple-melon purée flavours with decent acidity and a lingering, well balanced, fairly refreshing, crisp finish. Has 13.8% alcohol and 7 g/L residual sugar with lot number L071119. Screwcap closure. Has not appeared in Vintages before. |

TASTING NOTE: The modern 2017 Torrontés is sourced from Cafayate and cropped from an extremely dry year. They search for a citric and fresh style, picking and fermenting at two different points in time; this fermented with indigenous yeast in small stainless steel vats. It's very spicy and faintly floral, not as aromatic as the variety can sometimes be. In fact, it reminded me of a Gewürztraminer more than a Moscatel. The palate is dry and balanced, with good freshness. I'd experiment with Thai food. Score - 90 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, June 29, 2018) |
