FERCULLEN PREMIUM BLEND IRISH WHISKEY Ireland
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer POWERSCOURT DISTILLERY
This remarkable blend of 88% 8-year-old grain whiskey and 12% 16-year old malt whiskey is light yellow-gold in colour. The refined nose is slightly spicy, honeyed and gently floral with gently toasty, buttery, vanilla notes. On the palate,it is dry, medium bodied and harmonious with some refined, gently toasty, warm, ripe plum-apple flavours and a lingering, bright, vanilla stick-tinged finish. Has 40% alcohol with lot number L9114 on the lower part of the glass bottle. TASTER'S TIP - LET IT BREATHE - ISO tasted from a recently-opened bottle & one just opened - the former was smoother & showing more complexity. The totally rebuilt/ultra modern Powerscourt Distillery can be traced back to the 9th century. Known in native Gaelic tongue as “FeraCulann”, it is located in the foothold of the Wicklow mountains, close to Dublin in the village of Enniskerry. I discovered that the Town Clock was built by the 6th Viscount Powerscourt and was presented to the Village on St. Patrick’s Day 1843. CSPC 12199
