RESERVA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2017 Uco Valley, Mendoza
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer VIÑALBA
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Here is a very dry, somewhat leafy, very firm, still youthful, Uco Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that still needs time to evolve. Deep intense dark violet red in colour, the dense ripe dark plum fruit is staring to come out of hibernation. In this case that’s a very good thing as the lot number on the on the back label (L18120) suggests that it was bottled 32 months ago and has had a great opportunity to develop some complexity. Dry and mediuml bodied, the still youthful, fairly intense, sinewy, firm, Damson plum fruit flavours will still benefit from more aging. I would give it another year or two - or just decant. Meanwhile, one has to ask, if this $18.95 red really worthy of 92 James Suckling points? Moreover, is it really something that you should “drink now” (March 27,2019)? Time will tell. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has 14.5 alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar - 60% in French oak for 12 months and 40% in stainless steel. NEW in Vintages. CSPC 15133
