RIESLING ICEWINE 2017 VQA Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer INNISKILLIN
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO for the November 12th release which was for the 2018 vintage. To make a long story short I have included this updated review in the December 12th release in case you receive it as a gift. The 2017 seems to have improved over that past year. Bright very light yellow colour. Intense, complex, very sweet, ripe apple puree nose with some caramel and Seville orange marmalade notes. Extremely sweet, medium-bodied, well structured, spicy, intense, pungent, very ripe apple purée flavours with a lingering, high acid, caramel -driven, Seville orange marmalade tinged finish. It has 9.5% alcohol and 245 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20191112 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 558288

TASTING NOTE: From Inniskillin's Niagara Estate, this complex and detailed wine deftly balances its 235 g/L of residual sugar against firming acidity. The lemonade and iced tea mix of an Arnold Palmer meets with rich flavors of honey, maple syrup and butterscotch. It's decadently delicious, lively and lingering. Editors' Choice.
