TASTING NOTE: The 2018 Gene is a blend of 50% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot from Gualtallary, all fermented with 30% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in used 225-liter oak barrels. It's a harmonious and tidy red blend with an approachable profile and the serious, mineral texture of Gualtallary. The varieties seem to complement each other nicely; the wine feels compact and harmonious, with finegrained, dusty tannins and a dry, serious finish. Drink date: 2019-2022. Score - 92 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Oct. 31, 2019) |
