Medium gold colour. Attractive, spicy, honeyed, heathery, wildflower nose with some sweetish coconut notes. Dry but not austere, harmonious and only medium-light bodied. Caramel-tinged, well balanced, bright, ripe lemony-plum flavours good length. Last appeared in Vintages on May 10, 2003 at $ 25.95 but was not presented for evaluation. |

Paddy Flaherty, the charismatic, convivial salesman for Cork Distillery whiskey after whom this whiskey is named, is such a legend that there is even a chain of Irish pubs in Spain named in his honour. Tasting note: An amber gold whiskey with a restrained vanilla, corn syrup nose followed by a whack of spice which smooths out quite nicely. Good harmonious length with a touch of sweetness in the finish. The whiskey style is probably very similar to the original Paddy Flaherty s sales techniques. The most successful salesman of the firm, Cork Distilleries renamed the product to honour him. Score 88. (Patricia Noonan, Wine Access, First In Line E-Report , Jan. 11, 2003) |
